Good friend and multiple  Emmy winning producer, Bill Pruitt was passing through and needed some shots near the American River for a pitch deck he was putting together. It was great to catch up and provide him with some sweet Idaho aerials...

IDAHO MEXICAN MUSIC PROJECT: ST. ANTHONY CHOIR

Being of service to their community is what St. Anthony Choir is all about.
Knowing that all of these films would be part of a series it was crucial that Steven Hatcher and I agree on the look and feel of the project.  The ability to collaborate and be adaptable was imperative.

IDAHO MEXICAN MUSIC PROJECT: Damian Rodriguez

This film introduces you to a man of many talents and accomplishments.  An advocate, activist, veteran, radio personality to name just a few.  Unfortunately, the scope of this project demanded that we focus the edit on Damian's musical journey.  You won't be disappointed.

Idaho Mexican Music Project

  • Really terrific to be able to work on these short films with Steven Hatcher and Idaho Commission on the Arts. It is very satisfying to know that we are part of something that is adding to an historical record and will live on for future generations of scholars and the public.

  • In the summer of 2019, Steven Hatcher, Director of the Folk & Traditional Arts Program at the Idaho Commission on the Arts, set off to document Mexican musical traditions across southern Idaho’s Snake River Plain with two fieldworkers from Boise State University and a carload of borrowed audio and video equipment. The Idaho Mexican Music Project was born.

The opportunity to edit and create a series of mini films from hours of interviews and performances was an opportunity that we just could not pass up.
Anyone familiar with, and who loves the work of ethnomusicologist Alan Lomax as we do, will understand the enthusiasm in which we greeted this opportunity.
Enjoy the first stop on the tour...

I love express peoples stories...revealing their history and  humanity. Right now I am doing that through the medium of film.
