In the summer of 2019, Steven Hatcher,
Director of the Folk & Traditional Arts Program at the
Idaho Commission on the Arts,
set off to document Mexican musical traditions
across southern Idaho’s Snake River Plain
with two fieldworkers from Boise State University
and a carload of borrowed audio and video equipment.
The Idaho Mexican Music Project was born.
This project for the Idaho Commission On the Arts involves crafting stories
from over 40 hours of footage.
Although we were not behind the camera or traveling across the state with
Steven Hatcher and his team of Boise State University volunteers...
working with the interviews and performance footage we certainly feel we have been along for the ride.
