Lynnette Pinkham, a Nez Perce tradition bearer from Lenore, Idaho, passes down traditional horse trapping techniques and storytelling to apprentice Jackie McArthur. When Boise State University students — under Idaho State Folklorist Steven Hatcher — returned from the field with footage documenting the living Mexican musical traditions of the Snake River Plain, FEAT1STFILMS was entrusted with shaping it into something lasting. From that raw and deeply human material, we compiled and edited 18 short films, produced by the Idaho Commission on the Arts, standing today as a testament to the heritage and enduring musical spirit of a community whose contributions to southern Idaho run deep. To be welcomed into that process is among the honors we hold closest.
